Jagua Ink
The natural alternative to permanent tattoos — deep, rich, and beautiful.
What is Jagua?
Jagua (pronounced hah-gwah) is a natural dye extracted from the Genipa americana fruit, native to the tropical rainforests of South America. Indigenous peoples have used it for centuries to create temporary body art and face paint.
Unlike henna, which produces a warm reddish-brown stain, jagua creates a stunning blueish-black color that closely resembles a real tattoo. It is 100% natural, contains no synthetic dyes or PPD, and is safe for most skin types.
Our jagua tattoos last approximately 1–2 weeks and are perfect for vacations, events, festivals, or anyone curious about a design before going permanent.

How to Care for Your New Jagua Tattoo
- 1
Leave it on
After application, leave the jagua gel on your skin for 2–3 hours. The longer you leave it, the darker and longer-lasting the result.
- 2
Peel or rinse off
Gently peel or rinse off the dried gel with warm water. Do not scrub. The design will appear very light at first — this is normal.
- 3
Let it develop
Over the next 10–24 hours the tattoo will deepen into a rich blueish-black color. Avoid soaking in water during this development period.
- 4
Keep it moisturized
Apply a light, unscented lotion daily to extend the life of your tattoo. Avoid exfoliating the area. Your design will last approximately 1–2 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is jagua ink safe?
Yes. Jagua ink is derived from the Genipa americana fruit and is 100% natural. It contains no synthetic dyes, PPD, or chemicals. It is safe for most skin types. If you have sensitive skin or fruit allergies, we recommend a small patch test first.
How is jagua different from henna?
Henna produces a warm reddish-brown stain, while jagua produces a cool blueish-black color that closely resembles a real tattoo. Both are temporary and all-natural, but jagua is ideal for those who want a darker, more tattoo-like look.
How long does a jagua tattoo last?
Jagua tattoos typically last 1–2 weeks depending on placement, skin type, and aftercare. Areas that are washed frequently (like hands) tend to fade faster than areas like the upper arm or back.
Will it look like a real tattoo?
Jagua produces a deep blueish-black stain that closely mimics the look of a real tattoo. It is a great way to try out a design before committing to permanent ink.
Can I get jagua on any part of my body?
Jagua can be applied almost anywhere. The color tends to be darkest on areas with thicker skin, such as the hands, feet, and upper arms.
